The young mexican soprano, Mónica Chávez performed mainly in México, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Greece, Finland, France, Rumania, Hungary, Slowenia, Bulgaria, Slowakia and Italy.
Born in Mexico, soprano Monica Chavez is beginning to draw the attention of audiences on two continents with her spinto voice of exceptional color, flexibly and pianissimi ability. She is sought-after for her interpretations on the operatic stage as well as the concert platform.
In 2009 she was part of the austrian Premiere of "Cantata a Donizetti" (A. Ponchielli) in February 2010 she sang at the Wienerkaffeesiderball, one of the most important in Vienna together with KS Francisco Araiza.2010/2011 she will appear as “Tosca”, “Aida”, Concerts in Switzerland as well as Verdi's "Requiem" in UFA, Russia (National Symphonie Orechstra) and at the Teatro Degollado. Also she will give her debut by the reopening of the mexican State Opera House Palacio de Bellas Artes with Beethovens "Fidelio" ( Leonore) and she will teach a Masterclass in Mexico , City (Xalapa, Veracruz) at the Faculty for Music at the University Veracruza.Over the last years Ms. Chavez has garnered experience as spinto-sopran and built up a very impressive repertoire where she appeared in the following roles: Aida, Elisabetta (Don Carlos), Amelia (Ballo in Maschera), Desdemona, Maddalena di Coigny, Mimi, Tosca, Giorgietta (Il Tabarro), Santuzza, Contessa , Jenny (Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Magahonny), Leonore (Fidelio), Elisabeth, Venus and Senta.
During the last few seasons the Mexico City native sang many concerts, highlights of which include performances of Mahler’s II Symphony and a New Year’s Concert at the Küsnachtdom in Zürich as in addition to performances of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.Other noteworthy appearances of 2008 include Senta (Der Fliegende Holländer) at the Savonlinna Festival in Finland under the direction of Stefan Soltesz/Jari Hämäläinen and a Gala Concert of opera arias at Teatro Degollado in Mexico City in November 2008.
Since making her operatic debut, Ms. Chavez has been a guest at many important musical venues in Europe including the Vienna Musikverein, Konzerthaus (Vienna), Schloßtheater Schönbrunn, Musikhalle Hamburg, Beethovensaal (Bonn), Beethovensaal of the Stuttgarter Liederhalle, Ljubljana Opera, Slovenian Philharmonic, Braila Nouloi Theatre, Städtischen Bühnen Freiburg, Theatre Pforzheim, Theatre Aachen, Theatre Regensburg, Tonhalle Zürich, Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Teatro Nacional de Bellas Artes in México City, to name a few. Megaro at the Athens Concert Hall, Herodus Atticus Theater. She has also been a guest many distinguished festivals such as Carinthischen Sommer Festival, Internationalen Varna Sommer, Braunschweig Festival, Rossini Festival in Wildbad, at the Academia Vocalis Tirolensis in Wörgl/Tirol, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Toscana Opera Festival, St. Margareten Festival, International Musik Festival Gut Immling and at the Savonlinna Festival (Finland).
