Ilia Popov, bass
Born in 1966 in Russia in St. Petersburg, began his musical studies in piano and graduated in 1983. He did his military service in the Red Army soloist with the famous choir. He attended the Institute of Musical Arts degree at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, the Conservatory Rimsky Korsakov perfecting stage with Galina Vishnevskaja in Lübeck / Germany, studied at the Opera-Theatre Royal "La Monnaie" in Brussels, and with Maestro Negri at Academy Doge of Genoa.
He played various roles in works great Russian tradition of Musical Theatre as a Soloist Rimsky Korsakov ("Prince Gremin" Tchaikovsky opera "Evgeni Onegin", "King Rene" in the work of Tchaikovsky "Iolanta", "Miller" by Dargomyjski "Rusalka", "Old gypsy" in the works of Rachmaninov's "Aleko", "Prince Konchak" opera "Prince Igor" by Borodin, "Zuniga" in the work of G.Bizet "Carmen").
In 1993 he participated at the Mozart Festival in Poland. In the same year he established himself as a winner of the contest "New Voices" Germany and the following year he was a finalist in the competition of Barcelona Spain, a
finalist in the contest Marmand / France (1995) and finalist in the competition of Marseille / France (1995) .
In 1997 he starred Warlaam opera "Boris Godunov" at the Teatro Regio in Turin. In 1999 he was winner of the competition "Shalapin" with the award Best Low. For some years now resides in Genoa, and has participated in numerous events in various theaters and opera Italian and foreign organizations (Piacenza, Tortona, Rosetum

From 1997 - 2012 he has starred as a principal bass all over Italy and the world in major roles like Zacarria in Verdi’s Nabucco, Fillip II in Verdi’s Don Carlos etc. with great success.
He acts also as Vice-President for Dietsch Artists International with responsibility for the Italian & Russian office.
