Fran Kraemer has developed an outstanding reputation in Opera, Oratorio and concert performances throughout the United States and Europe.
Favorite opera roles include Leonora in La Favorita, Azucena in Il Trovatore, Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro, Cornelia in Giulio Cesare, Second Lady in The Magic Flute, Hansel in Hansel und Gretel, Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro, Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Miss Todd in The Old Maid and the Thief and Mrs. Peachum in The Beggar’s Opera. Musical Theatre roles include Jenny Lind in Barnum, Lola in Damn Yankees and the Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music. Oratorio solo highlights include Verdi’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Vaughan William’s Mass in G Minor, Mozartat’s Coronation Mass, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Hayden’s Third Mass, Bach’s Magnificat and Passion According to St. John and Vivaldi’s Gloria.
In 2000, Ms. Kraemer made her European debut in concert under Maestro Heiko Mathias Forster in Graz, Austria. In the summer of 2002, she sang the role of Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro in the Czech Republic, and returned in the spring to be featured with Maestro Frantisek Vajnar and the Hradec Kralove Symphony in a concert of Italian Opera. During the summer of 2003, under the musical direction of Roberto Perata from La Scala, she performed Cornelia in Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Chiari, Italy, followed by Azucena in Verdi’s Il Trovatore in Burgas, Bulgaria, Leonora in Donizetti’s La Favorita and Giocasta in Leoncavallo’ss Edipo Re.
Under the direction of the late Robert Shaw, Ms. Kraemer made several recordings and Carnegie Hall appearances. Ms. Kraemer has also performed with the San Diego Opera, the Atlanta Opera, The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, San Diego Comic Opera, Capitol City Opera in Atlanta, Concert Opera Philadelphia and Amici Opera both in Philadelphia and Pacific Opera and Pelham Bay Opera, both in New York City.
Twice a winner in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions in the San Diego District, Ms. Kraemer has also received awards from the California Women’ss Choral Association, the Musical Merit Foundation, was a finalist in the Vera Scammon International Vocal Competition, and gained outstanding reviews for her concert in the Young Artist Series in La Jolla, California.
