American National Opera Company Vision Statement

The American National Opera Company (ANOpera) is the brain-child of James Dietsch, founder and CEO of Dietsch International Associates.  American National Opera Company was born out of both opportunity and passion: passion for opera, and the opportunity to capture existing audiences in cities where many regional U.S. Opera companies have had to close due to high operation costs.  New audiences, some of whose appetites for Opera have been awakened by the MET Opera‘s high-definition theatrical broadcasts, will also be captured.  We believe in “Live Performances” and their ability to take the audiences where they may feel the electric qualities of those performances.  Theatre is interactive with imagination.

Concept
The American National Opera Company has a well focused and lean management team dedicated to artistic excellence and organizational efficiency that offers a value driven proposition for the ticket buyer and investor alike.  The main goal is a profit driven organization using models like the old MET which was a for-profit entity before moving to Lincoln Center.

Artistic Vision
In the 1980’s and 90’s MET Opera Artistic Director James Levine realized that he could develop the MET into X by raising each of the critical performance components of the opera to their highest artistic potential: the chorus, the orchestra, the singers and the technical aspects.

DRAFT

In this way the Met was able to deliver the highest value on a consistent basis to the ultimate stakeholder: the audience member who purchased a ticket.    ANOC will emulate this proven model for success, and do so beginning with a touring environment.

Artistic talent on all levels is available; ANOC Organizational and Artistic management will be focusing on the development of highly motivated and coordinated teams.

Principal Artists will be cast from all over the world with an emphasis on casting American artists when possible.  Orchestras are sought after on a regional basis, with soloist chosen from an national talent base.  Choruses are selected regionally and will have some selected nationally.

Directors will be chosen on the basis of artistic excellence - Directors capability to create imaginative and brilliant productions with the Music as the primary basis for theatrical choices [expression]

Theatrical technology enables us to build sets and productions capable of supporting the highest theatrical and cinematic images, yet keeping a focus on the practicality of transporting and loading in and out of theaters.

Current Environment and Opportunity
Regional opera companies in the US have been unable to sustain operations due to the ratios of income-expense (large, individual overhead), and the collapse of non-profit funding sources in the recent

downturn.   However, the current downturn offers DIA opportunity.  We will be able to spend four or five times the amount of money on sets, costumes and technical effects than any one company or small groups of companies.  This is due to the fact that our productions will have so many performances and of course revenue possibilities.

Repertoire
The company’s initial repertoire offers the American and worldwide public three great works with dynamic new perspectives and delightful alternatives to the standard fare. Which are Porgy and Bess, A night at the Alhambra Café, George Foreman Story and Les Miserable.

These works will establish and solidify our artistic reputation and branding.  Subsequent productions will include standard operatic repertoire.  Such as: Otello, Chenier, Fledermaus, and Tosca. We are also considering operatic works from American composers, and the commissioning of new works from American composers.
